Problems with your thyroid gland can lead to tiredness, low mood and weight issues, so it’s essential for your health that you know whether it’s working correctly.



Early signs of a potential thyroid problem can include:

  • weight gain
  • weight loss
  • sweating
  • tremors (shaking)
  • difficulty concentrating
  • hair loss
  • dry skin
  • puffiness of your face, hands or feet

'Normal' ranges are specific to you and your body. We'll let you know whether your results fall within a normal range or outside of it once we've processed your results, taking into account variables like your age and biological sex. If we notice anything that’s not quite normal, we’ll let you know right away and guide you through the next steps, including how to talk about your results with your GP.



There’s no need to skip meals or prepare anything major before this test. If you take any medication, speak to your doctor beforehand, as some types of medicine can affect your thyroid function.

If you’ve had any recent X-rays or scans done with contrast dye, speak to your doctor too. The iodine in the dye can affect your results, so you may need to wait a while before testing.

Free T4 and TSH are the more commonly tested markers to rule out any abnormalities with your thyroid. However, there are some cases where you could have normal TSH and free T4 levels but still have an underactive thyroid because your T3 is low, in which case, our advanced thyroid test would be better suited and can also rule out autoimmune issues with your thyroid.  

Talk to your doctor before taking this test. Being pregnant can have a noticeable impact on your results, so make sure to check in with your GP first.
